Tue, Aug 16, 2016, 06:58 PM
Hyderabad, Aug.16: Finance Minister E Rajender today said that the government is committed to the welfare of the farmers in the state. Along with Roads and Buildings Minister Tummala Nageshwar Rao and Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, the finance minister made a visit re-launched a palm oil industry at Ashwaraopet in Khammam districton Tuesday.

Later talking to reporters, Rajender criticized that the previous governments failed to keep their promise to take measures for farmers’ welfare. The Congress and TD governments ignored the plight of the farmers he charged. However, he maintained that the TRS Government is committed to the welfare of the farmers.

We are working for the cause of farmers in the state, and the farm community is to witness better results in future the Minister remarked. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has taken a decision to offer subsidies for the welfare of the farmers he said.

The Government will offer smooth and better governance only when the agriculture sector reaps in benefits the finance minister said. Rajender also said that though the agriculture sector has only 15 per cent share in the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) a large chunk of society relies on the farm work he stated.

Keeping this in view the state government is taking measures to help develop agriculture by all means he claimed. He called upon the farmers to protect the factories run by the government as their privatization will have a negative impact.
