Reprieve to govt on GO 123 as HC stays quash order

Hyderabad, Aug.9: In a major reprieve to the Telangana Government, the High Court today stayed the single-judge order quashing GO 123 against land acquisition for Mallanna Sagar project.

A division bench, on hearing arguments of both sites, directed the State government to submit a copy of a fresh GO by Thursday incorporating the details of the compensation package and rehabilitation measures and other steps to be provided to those giving land for the purpose.

The Government Pleader told media persons that he had apprised the Division Bench of the measures to be taken for providing all succor of rehabilitation, replacement and other benefits on par with that of 2013 Land Acquisition Act. The government has promised that it will take all steps as per schedule 2 of the 2013 Act and also, to providing more benefits to the farmers giving lands under the project, he stated.

On hearing their arguments, the Division Bench stayed the previous order that quashed the GO 123 a few days ago and directed the government to furnish complete details of the measures to be taken. The court stated that on satisfaction by looking at the details in the new GO on Thursday, it will give further orders about the case, he added.
