To form Telangana Water Resources Information System (TWRIS), the State government and ISRO will sign a deal to this extent at a crucial meeting with Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao, and ISRO Chairman Kiran Kumar at Grand Kakatiya Hotel on August 6 at 8.30 am.

Upon the agreement, ISRO will offer information and images of waters every fortnight to Irrigation Department and work in tandem. The satellite imagery will boost irrigation projects and lakes revival program with complete information of reservoirs, projects, lakes, ponds and water bodies.

ISRO Scientific Advisor Dr. PG Diwakar stated that Telangana would be the first State to make use of satellite imagery for its water resources. The deal will boost irrigation projects and Mission Kakatiya program as the government was committed to complete them with adequate funds.

The Government has plans to complete irrigation projects in a prestigious manner to reach the target of irrigating one crore acres over five years. It is pertinent to note that lakes revival program was implemented on a war-footing to distribute irrigation waters to crops at rural pockets.
