Tue, Aug 02, 2016, 04:31 PM
An IT informer who stalked on the accounts of Bollywood star Rani Mukherjee, TV presenter and actor Sekhar Suman, Balaji Telefilms and Adhikari Brothers among 16 companies he was looking into benefited the IT Department which netted Rs 50 crore from these Bollywood sources. While doing so, the IT Department did not pay the 10% commission due to the informer.

The duration of the IT evasion was 1990 and 2000. He waited till 2009 for the compensation. When he did not get any, he staged a dharna in front of the office of Director-General of Direct Taxes. The official assured him that he would be given the commission within 3 months.

Three months passed and there was no compensation. Then the informer moved the High Court. The Bombay High Court immediately ordered the IT Department to pay Rs 5 crore to the aggrieved informer.

The IT commission is stated to be between 7.5% and 10% for informers.
