YCP bandh today to show failure of State & Central Govts on SCS demand

Mon, Aug 01, 2016, 04:47 PM
Appealing to all sections of the people to participate in the August 2 State-wide bandh seeking Special Category Status to Andhra Pradesh, the YSR Congress has said that it is time to reckon and fight for our just demand, as the Central and State governments have miserably failed to fulfill their poll promises.

‘I appeal to workers, students, social organizations, political parties and intelligentsia to join hands in the fight for justice in demanding the Special Category Status which is the future of our State, as the Centre has made it clear that it would not accord special status and the State has failed in convincing its coalition partner on the issue,’ party senior leader Botsa Satyanarayana told reporters in Hyderabad on Monday.

`We have been relentlessly highlighting the importance of special status while Chandrababu Naidu had been continuously deriding the issue telling that special status is not a wonder drug and answer to all problems. Our leader had held dhana in Delhi and went on an indefinite fast, besides other protest programmes, while the TDP has always been indifferent.

`Even in the Lok Sabha, our party MPs have raised the issue with intent, while TDP MPs have shown the indifference and joined issue only after the YSRCP has gained the attention of the Speaker. We have given an adjournment motion as well, which was rejected and the protest sparked from there on,' he added.

Being part of the NDA coalition, there is no need for the TDP to raise placards. If they are sincere, there are other forms of protesting and this dharnas are only an eyewash.

Chandrababu Naidu and Union Minister Sujana Choudhary were speaking in the same wavelength, demeaning special status.

Both the BJP and the TDP have gone back on the special status and the bandh call given by the YSR Congress would be to fight for the future of the state as industrialization only can pave the way for development of the state, he said.

‘I appeal to all sections of the people to join hands and make the August 2 bandh a grand success,’ he said.

Meanwhile, in Delhi, YCP MPs Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy and YV Subba Reddy said that the TDP lacked sincerity on the issue and were only resorting to dramatics by staging dharna outside parliament.

'There is no need for the TDP, which is a coalition partner to stage dharna or show placards, instead they should mount pressure in a different form which Chandrababu Naidu is ignoring,' they said.
