TDP MPs start voicing SCS demand in Lok Sabha

Mon, Aug 01, 2016, 12:25 PM
TDP MPs at last got down to demanding the promised Spcial Category Status in a big way in and out of the Lok Sabha on Monday.

First they staged the protest at Gandhi statue in Parliament premises, holding placards demanding SCS for AP. Then, as Question hour began in the Lok Sabha, the members belonging to the party surrounded the podium and raised slogans.

Later, the TDP MPs went out and registered their protest at the main entrance of the Lok Sabha, while behind them the door was closed.

That is the very door that was closed during the Congress rule when the AP Reorganisation Bill was passed amid pandemonium created by Andhra MPs, including Lagadapati Rajagopal.

The ruling BJP, successor to the Congress regime, that so far was fooling the Andhras had to commit itself following a discussion on the Private Member Bill of KVP Ramachandra Rao. On Friday, the leader of Rajya Sabha, Arun Jaitley, had to virtually rule out SCS for AP, saying that it was potentially progressive State and that the Centre had no funds to take the financial burden that SCS for AP entailed, although it was promised by the previous government on the floor of the House and reassured by Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself.
