KVP in Vijayawada asks Babu to quit BJP alliance

Sat, Jul 30, 2016, 01:32 PM
After raising a storm in Parliament, Congress senior leader KVP Ramachandra Rao, whose Private Member Bill elicited opinions of all opposition parties favourably for the Special Category Status for Andhra Pradesh, made a dramatic entry into the Andhra capital region on Saturday.

A native of Krishna district, KVP was all fire and brimstone over the attitude of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu who, he alleged, was playing a drama whenever the SCS figured prominently. Even after the Central government had made it clear that the promised SCS would not be applicable to Andhra Pradesh, Chandrababu was still in ambivalence as to where the State's interests lay.

KVP demanded that the TDP should come out of the alliance with the BJP since the NDA government had made it clear that AP would not get the SCS.

KVP's Congress had kept its part of the bargain by walking out of the Rajya Sabha the moment the leader of the House, Arun Jaitley, declared no SCS for Andhra Pradesh, which the party-led government had promised in the previous Lok Sabha.
