Rankers & parents protest against EAMCET-2 re-exam

Demanding that the State government not to cancel EAMCET-II ranks, the students, who have got ranks and their worried parents, in Hyderabad on Thursday staged a protest in front of the Telangana Secretariat. The protesters said they would knock the doors of justice, if necessary. Stating that they worked hard day and night sincerely and got ranks, the students pleaded with the State government not to scrap the EAMCET-II and force them to write the examination afresh. Various political parties, AAP activists and students unions extended moral support to the protesting rankers and their parents. The protesters demanded that Medical & Health Minister C Lakshma Reddy own the moral responsibility for the EAMCET-II paper leak and resign from the post honourably. Meanwhile, the police intervened and took the protesters into custody. Similarly, students unions in all the districts staged protests, urging the government not to cause injustice to them. In Warangal district, the students and their parents called on Deputy Chief Minister in-charge of Higher Education Kadiam Srihari this morning and urged him not to conduct the EAMCET-II again. At Kukatpally in city, activists of the BJP Yuva Morcha staged a dharna at the JNTU and demanded that the culprits behind the EAMCET-II paper leak be punished with an iron hand. Lamenting that thousands of poor students suffered grave injustice due to the paper leakage, they demanded that the TRS government own moral responsibility for its incompetence. They also set an effigy of the government afire. Following this, the police arrested the activists and whisked them away to the police station. With the government giving a clarification that they would get a report from the CID on the paper leak and would take an appropriate decision, the students and parents remained tense and biting nails. "Just because some students have resorted to irregularities, thousands of students should not be inconvenienced. We demand that the government remove the culprits from ranks list and conduct counseling," demanded K Rammohan, parent of KV Anjusri, who got 501st rank. Parents and students started gathering in front of Secretariat and protesting. Parents, including women in large numbers, raised slogans demanding 'We want justice', 'Down Down Health Minister', 'CM KCR should interfere. "I have written EAMCET three times and am completely stressed. As I got good rank in EAMCET-II, I didn't even take NEET II, if this EAMCET II is cancelled sincere students like us will suffer. We earnestly request Health Minister and CM not to cancel EAMCET II," urged I Meghana, a student from Hyderabad , who got 450th rank.
