As Varavara Rao, of Revolutionary Writers Association (Virasam), set out to meet the Mallannasagar farmers on Wednesday, he was arrested at Kondapaka in Medak district.

Varavararao was prevented from proceeding to Mallannasagar villages by the police and taken to police station.

The other leaders belonging to the Praja Front, who were with Varavararao, were also arrested. They are Dr Kasim, Ravichandra, Devendra, Gitanjali, Nalamasa Krishna and Ramanachary.
