TRS Govt won't hesitate to put leaders opposing water projects behind bars

Cinematography and Animal Husbandry Minister T Srinivas Yadav on Tuesday warned that the government would not hesitate to put behind the bars the opposition leaders for persistently trying to stall developmental works and the completion of the Mallanna Sagar and any other irrigation project in the state.

Addressing a press conference at the Telangana Secretariat, Srinivas Yadav lashed out at the opposition for playing high drama on the Mallanna Sagar and other projects. The government was trying to offer better compensation through GO 123 or the Land Acquisition Act 2013. There were however delays and formalities to be gone through.

The TRS government was committed to completing the Mallanna Sagar and other projects. He warned that the government would put opposition leaders behind the bars for their persistent efforts to stall the works of development.

Reacting to sharp criticism on police excess of lathi-charge and firing on the farmers and leaders of some political parties, he said that he would talk to Irrigation Minister Harish Rao and ensure that it would not recur. But he added that the opposition was provoking them, besides stalling the project works.

Accusing the previous governments of ignoring the irrigation projects for six decades, he said that land acquisition was not new and the government would offer satisfactory compensation to the victims.

Noted for their corruption and commissions, the Congress leaders were only increasing their bellies and were making meaningless comments against the government on the projects, he fumed.

The opposition was indulging in dirty politics for mileage and resorting to false allegations of commissions and corruption, which were not correct. He called upon the people not to get carried away by the provocation by the opposition, as the government was ready to offer them the best package.

Srinivas Yadav said the Irrigation Minister was ready to provide better package and Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao would give them convincing answers, he maintained.

The opposition parties, when they were in power, had failed to develop irrigation projects and ignored people's welfare, while the TRS Government in its 2-year stint was able to come up with welfare schemes and programs for inclusive growth.

KCR had already made a PowerPoint presentation on irrigation projects and gave clarity on the projects. The opposition was only trying to malign the government image through useless protests.

He claimed that the government was unfazed by the opposition comments.

He pointed out that the government was spending huge funds for implementing Kalyana Lakshmi, Shadi Mubarak, Mission Bhagiratha, Mission Kakatiya, Haritha Haram, pension scheme, fine rice to hostels etc.
