Ali Zafar `If women start killing for honour ...

Tue, Jul 26, 2016, 11:46 AM
Pakistani Bollywood actor Ali Zafar has made a Freudian slip when he tweeted, `If women started killing us for their honour, a lot of us would be dead.'

Ali Zafar was reacting to the killing of stripper-actor Qandeel Baloch by her brother over family honour.

A very valid point in terms of equality, but who would make the relevant laws. Coming as it does straight from the heart of an actor from across the border over a Pakistani crime, he would be spared because he tweeted from a safe place.

From a neutral standpoint, Ali Zafar should take the lead for his country's sake because so many crimes in Pakistan are stashed away under the carpet in the name of family honour. He should also take into account Qandeel's dad wanting his son to be shot at sight for killing his `little one.' Both Qandeel's parents regarded their daughter as their best friend to each of them. When such was the case, from where did her brother find the need for keeping family honour? There cannot be a divided family honour.
