Congress makes quite a show in Upper House on KVP Bill

The Congress made quite a show in the Upper House on Monday, demanding the introduction of the Private Member's Bill introduced by Congress Elder KVP Ramachandra Rao, wanting the implementation of the promised Special Category Status for Andhra Pradesh.

The ruling BJP stalled the Bill repeatedly. The Congress members rushed to the well of House demanding a discussion on the Bill. But the BJP continued to stall the Bill, with its members speaking on unrelated subjects.

The Deputy Chairman of the House, PJ Kurien, had to twice adjourn the House in the afternoon. When there was no resolution of the issue, he adjourned the House for the Day.

Earlier, he said he would have to speak to the leader of the House, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, on the issue. Later, the Deputy Chairman clarified that the House would take up the Bill on alternative Friday next (August 5), as Private Member's Bills are taken upon that day.

Speaking later, TDP MP CM Ramesh said the Congress had killed AP and was now holding a memorial meeting. He said the Congress had at last realized its blunder. He said his party would support the Bill.
