Even before the TRS government's prestigious two-bedroom house plans for the poor got off the ground, a racket involved in cheating people about the allotment of the two-bedroom houses and government jobs was busted.

The Commissioner’s Task Force on Saturday busted a two-bedroom house racket and nabbed four fraudsters, including two women. The accused cheated gullible people by promising to provide them with double-bedroom house at Boiguda in Secunderabad.

The cheats collected Rs 34 lakh from 110 persons by promising to provide them with the two-bedroom houses, and posts of junior assistants and police constables in the Telangana government.

The four accused were identified as Bommani Mahbuni alias Munni, 29, a housewife from Almasguda in R.R. District and native of Cumbum in Prakasham district; Madishetty Satish Kumar, 35, car driver residing at Angadipet at Jeedimetla; Madishetty Amaravathi, 32, an employee residing at Bible House, Secunderabad; and Mohd Tajuddin alias Taj, 32,. electrician of Falaknuma.

A sum of Rs 10,40,000 was seized from them along with land documents, four autos and four mobile phones.

Task Force DCP B. Limba Reddy said Bommani Mahbuni, the kingpin of the racket, along with three other accused, organized the racket.

The main accused introduced herself as an officer in the Endowments Department of Telangana State and told the people that the allotment of two-bedroom houses scheme was under her control. She can provide 2-bedroom houses and also jobs in government departments.

She demanded Rs 20,000 to 30,000 from each victim. She also introduced M. Satish Kumar, M. Amaravath, Mohd Tajuddin as senior officers in the Endowments department.

As suggested by the accused, the victims deposited money in various bank account numbers of Mahabuni and M. Satish Kumar on various dates.

Whenever the victims approached the accused, they informed them that the allotment order copies were ready and would be delivered by the GHMC Commissioner. Thus the accused cheated the residents of Bowenpally, Gopalapuram, Gandhi Nagar, Chilkalguda and other areas.

On a tip-off, the sleuths apprehended the accused near Padmarao Nagar Park, Chilkalguda, Secunderabad, and handed them over to Chilkalguda P.S. for follow-up action.

The police appealed to the public not to believe cheats, who make false promises and collected money.
