YCP support is there, but why KVP Bill? asks Bothsa

As the Special Category Status for Andhra Pradesh was already assured in Parliament, there was no need to table a special Bill on it, because both the UPA and the BJP had unanimously agreed to it, senior YSRCP leader Botsa Satyanarayana said on Thursday.

Speaking to reporters in Hyderabad, he said: ‘We have assured full support to any resolution that would be tabled in August 2015 and in March 2016 as well and we will support anyone for the cause of special status.'

The merger of some of the mandals from Telangana into Andhra Pradesh in the wake of the submergence threat due to the Polavaram project was done as per the assurance given during the State Reorganization, but why was the special status issue not taken up so far, he questioned.

There is no need for a special Bill on special status as it was assured in Parliament and the cabinet nod was there. The TDP had been trying to keep the issue at bay, `but we will always be in the forefront in the fight to attain special status,' he added.
