KTR appreciates Harish Rao

Hyderabad, July 9: In a review meeting on irrigation projects and the need of sand reaches and resources, Industry and Mining Minister KT Rama Rao today appreciated Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao for increasing the sand mining income to 45 per cent. When Harish was the mining minister he efficiently tackled the sand mining issue and this time we will put a double target, he said and warned of serious measures for any irregularities in the transportation of sand.

Harish said that it was estimated that as much as 1.72 cr cubic meters sand is required for the existing and ongoing projects in the state. Harish directed the officials to find out sand reaches near the projects on a war-footing across the state. The following projects need 1.72 cr cubic meters sand. Existing projects are Penganga in Adilabad to Gandipalli near Gouravall in Karimnagar district, Devadula in Warangal to AMRP, Pendlipakala, Udaya Samudram Dindi in Nalgonda district and also the ongoing projects with redesigning like Medigadda, Sundilla and Annaram. He also asked to complete resource mapping in two days and also identify the sand resources near the projects.

The ministers said that it was decided to shift 7 lakh cubic meters of sand to Rangnayaki Sagar and Ananthagiri projects from Mid Maneru and Kaleshwaram package 9 in 45 days and steps should be taken up immediately. They also asked the chief engineers to acquire land with the help of police and revenue officials. The ministers also gave the top officials a free hand to remove those engineers and staff for poor performance and take those who efficiently work.
