Geoff Lawson charges Marlon Samuels with being part of Jamaican mafia

Tue, Jul 05, 2016, 05:37 PM
Australians are infamous for their sledging, disturbing the concentration of the rival batsmen by continuous ranting, on the cricket field. But former Australian pacer Geoff Lawson went too far to accuse winning West Indian batsman Marlon Samuels of being part of Jamaican mafia gang.

The West Indians are not the ones to take it lying down on or off the field. Marlon Samuels has filed a defamation suit against lawson for `malicious and unjustifiable' comments against him.

The worst part of it is Samuels batting his country to victory in the World Cup in Kolkata and the following day Lawson making the `malicious' comment.

According to Samuels, Lawson made the comment in a radio podcast, Big Sports Breakfast, on April 4, a day after the World Cup final.

The Australian further described Kingston, Jamaica, as one of murder capitals of the world.

The lawsuit also includes James Matthey, who published a story on news.com.au, accusing Sauels of `being involved with criminal gangs in Jamaica.'
