Five City terror suspects owed signed allegiance to ISIS

Tue, Jul 05, 2016, 12:50 PM
The five terror suspects in Hyderabad do owe their allegiance to the ISIS and they are not just home-grown terrorists, it is now confirmed.

The five terrorists, now in National Investigation Agency custody for 12 days, had sent a `baya' (oath of allegiance) to the Caliph of Islamic State. The `baya' was scanned and emailed to their handler in Iraq-Syria, Shafi Armar, reports said.

Armar had reportedly told the five-member terror group that he would hand it over to the Islamic state chief Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi.

Reports said Mohammed Ibrahim Yazdani was the most radicalised of the group. He along with his wife and one-year-old son and brother Mohammed Ilyas Yazdani had tried to go to Syria via Greece twice. Greece was his destination so he could go to Syria and not Turkey, the regular route, because that would have raised suspicion.

Ibrahim's associate Fahad used an e-commerce site to order a pistol and bullets, which did not arrive before the group's arrest.

The group was planning attacks on police stations in the city. They had also downloaded an app that pinpoints city police stations.

The NIA had in a simultaneous operation took 11 youths from Old City into custody. Of them the five ISIS terrorists were held and the others let off.
