HC clears Puneet Dalmia in Jagan case

Wed, Jun 22, 2016, 10:54 AM
In the YCP leader YS Jaganmohan Reddy's disproportionate assets case, one more industrialist Puneet Dalmia could wriggle out, arguing he had nothing to do with the case. The CBI chargesheet had said that it was a quid pro quo case because the Dalmia Cements chief had invested heavily in Jagan's concerns, as a result of which Puneet had got the mining rights to exploit limestone in Cuddapah district.

After moving the Andhra Pradesh High Court by Puneet, the court felt that there was no evidence of quid pro quo in the case and ordered a halt to the investigations against him.

The mining rights for exploiting limestone were first given to Sajjala Diwakar Reddy who transfered it to Puneet Dalmia. This is also a part of the CBI charge. The quid pro quo was precisely getting the limestone-exploiting rights for Dalmia Cements investing in Jagan companies.

The High Court had cleared Dalmia.
