Sabina Inderjit elected VP of world scribes body

Sabina Inderjit, Vice-President of Indian Journalists Union (IJU), has been elected Vice-President of International Federation of Journalists (IFJ), representing six lakh journalists in 160 countries, at its 39th Congress held at Angers, France, recently for years 2016-19.

Sabina Inderjit is the first journalist from Asia to occupy the important position. She was the member of IFJ Executive Committee for the last five terms from 2001 to 2016.

The Congress elected Philippe Leruth (Belgium) as President, Younes Jahed of (Morocco) as Senior Vice-President, Sabina Inderjit (India) Joachim Krebich (Germany) as Vice-Presidents and Jim Boumelha (England) as Honorary Treasurer for a three-year term.

Sabina Inderjit, daughter of veteran journalist and parliamentarian Inderjit, is now heading the Indian News and Features Agency (INFA), one of the oldest news and features agencies in the country, founded by her grandfather Durga Das and nurtured by her late father.
