BJP urges AP High Court bifurcation

Telangana State BJP Legal Cell on Wednesday urged Governor E S L Narsimhan to convene a meeting of Chief Ministers of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh States in order to ensure expeditious bifurcation of the High court. In a memorandum submitted to the Governor, the BJP legal cell also urged him to discuss the issue of allocation of judicial officers for both the States and help implement the guidelines issued in February this year. A delegation of party leaders, led by MLC and BJP national executive member N Ramchender Rao, met the Governor on Wednesday and submitted a memorandum to this effect. The delegation comprised Ravindra Vishwanath, BJP legal cell convenor L Prabhakar Reddy, K Anthony Reddy, G Rama Rao, K Karuna Sagar and K Lakshman. They sought intervention of the Governor to expedite the process of bifurcation of the High Court and set aside the “illegal exercise option” being followed for allocation of judicial officers. In the memorandum, the BJP legal cell said in spite of the High Court orders last year with regard to bifurcation of the High Court, no concrete measures were taken. The delay in the implementation of the court directions was giving room for unnecessary polemical speculations.
