The Union Home Ministry had informed the Orissa government last week about the presence of 10 Chinese nationals, secretary Asit Tripathi said. Bhadrak is a sensitive district where several defence establishments are located.

The Chinese workers were engaged by a Thai company on the port project for the last few months. They were holding business visas but working on the port project. `Therefore, the `leave India' notices were served on them, Bhadrak Superintendent of Police Nihar Ranjan Das said.

Nine other Chinese working on the porject had already returned home.

Bhadrak is close to Wheeler's island where ISRO's missile launch facility is located.
