13 arrested in Tuni violence, being interrogated at secret place

Seven more Tuni agitators were arrested in connection with Ratnachal Express burning on Tuesday, taking the total number of arrests in connection with the incident to 13.

At the same time, the police, in order to defuse the rising tension in Amalapuram with Kapu supremo Mudragada Padmanabham demonstrating at the police station there, hustled him into a van and took him to the CID office in Rajahmahendravaram.

The police clarified that Mudragada was not arrested but only taken to Rajahmundry to keep him abreast of the evidence against the arrested persons. He was taken with due respect taken in a van.

The Kapu leaders were gathering at Amalapuram, so the police decided to shift the scene to Rajahmundry.

The six arrested on Monday were taken to a secret place for interrogation, according to Home Minister Chinarajappa. The police were trying to find the real culprits behind the Tuni violence. He appealed to the Kapu community that they should stay calm and let government deal with violence.

The police said the six arrested were not innocent but rowdysheeters.
