Kapu supremo Mudragada Padmanabham is staging dharna at Amalapuram police station demanding the release of six community activists who were detained in connection with Tuni Kapu Garjana violence a few months ago.

Padmanabham told the media at the police station that if innocent community leaders wre arrested, he would not keep quiet. He was the community's whole and sole leader. So he was liable for any punishment.

The police were trying to dissuade him from the demonstration. He was adamant that he would continue the demonstration till all the arrested people were released.

Meanwhile, the Kapu community leaders and the police reinforcements were reaching the area which was plunged in tension.

The police sources say if things seemed to go out of control, they would arrest Padmanabham also.

In Tuni, following Kapu Garjana meeting, the agitators set fire to and attacked the police and two police stations and set fire to a train passing by.
