Farmers always get a raw deal under TDP: Jagan

Fri, Jun 03, 2016, 06:27 PM
Coming down heavily on Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu for placing self-interest above people’s interests, Leader of Opposition YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Friday questioned as to from where the TDP president garnered the Rs 600 crore to lure away the MLAs from the opposition YCP.

On the third day of the Rythu Bharosa Yatra, he told a large gathering at Yadiki in Anantpur that the farmers had always got a raw deal in TDP rule, as its priorities lay elsewhere and the TDP election promises were left to the winds. This left the farmers as defaulters and to their own plight, forcing many of them to commit suicides due to indebtedness.

It is ironical that Chandrababu Naidu had been telling lies in his Navanirmana Deeksha that farmers were very happy in his governance, while the truth is otherwise. He had placed his personal interests ahead of people's welfare and mortgaged the state interests to pursue his corrupt policies, the YSRCP president said.

The Rythu Bharosa Yatra, he said, was aimed at instilling confidence among the farmers who were resorting to suicides in the wake of the failure of loan waiver scheme and other poll promises made by Chandrababu Naidu during his electioneering which he did not fulfill eventually.
