LED bulbs to be distributed in Telangana from June 1

Hyderabad, May 29: A step ahead to save power the state government is launching the distribution of LED bulbs to the households across the state on June 1, a day ahead of state formation day on June 2. A light-emitting diode (LED) is a two-lead semiconductor light source used for more light and help save power to reduced bills.

The government adopted a two-pronged strategy of producing more power to cater to growing needs of 12000 mw and save the energy upto 85 per cent avoiding wastage. The Government is ready with a plan of an estimated Rs 3.48 cr will be spent to distribute a total of 4,66,426 bulbs to benefit 2,33,213 persons in first phase.

Minister for Power G Jagadish Reddy will launch the prestigious scheme of distributing LED bulbs from Devarakonda town of Nalgonda district and continue in phased manner across all districts. While the actual price of each bulb is Rs 74.60 paise the government has chalked out plans to offer each bulb at a meager price of Rs 10 and one house will get two bulbs to get improved light during nights and save it simultaneously which will ultimately bring down the escalating bills.

It was planned to distribute two LED bulbs among people based on their service number and help save power from 60 per cent to 84 per cent in each house. With this efforts of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao are getting fructified to increase power production to reduce cuts and increase 22 per cent of power consumption by continuous supply. As per 2011 census, the officials found it that 2,33,213 service connections are existing in 25 municipalities which need 4,66,426 bulbs.
