No compromise on educational standards, says Srihari

Emphasizing the need for high standards in education, Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari said on Saturday that the government was not ready to compromise on quality of education, which was key for human resources development. Stating that Telangana was lagging behind in the education sector, Kadiam attributed it to the negligence and inefficiency of the previous governments. Inaugurating Telangana Golden Education Fair (Matrix-2016) at Nizam College grounds here, Srihari, who also holds Education portfolio, said the previous Andhra rulers had completely neglected the education sector in the Telangana region. “Though our students are second to none, they need to improve standards to excel at national and international platforms”, he said. At the same time, Srihari warned the private institutions of the wrath of posterity if they failed to adopt scientific approach for imparting quality education without compromise on standards. He also said the institutions could excel if they were committed to improving standards or would face the ire of the society. “We are not averse to private educational institutions, which should focus on improving quality and standards”, he said and pointed out that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had time and again said that they were not ready to compromise on the standards in the education sector. The State Government was all set to achieving golden Telangana by improving standards in education, besides providing facilities and infrastructure in the institutions. Claiming that Telangana was the only State that would begin 30 women Gurukul Colleges, he said collective efforts would help reach pinnacle in the education sector.
