Purandeshwari rules out change in BJP alliance with TDP

Wed, May 25, 2016, 12:40 PM
While the local BJP leaders in general have been making loose statements as regards the continuation of the alliance with the ruling TDP in Andhra Pradesh, former Union minister Purandeshwari on Wednesday made a considered observation that while continuing with the tie-up, the party had not yet decided about any change in the alliance in the 2019 elections so far.

Purandeshwari was speaking to newsmen in Vijayawada in connection with the coming visits by several Union ministers in the near future.

Right now the BJP was concentrating on strengthening the party in Andhra Pradesh. They were not wasting time on the alliance or otherwise.

She condemned the statements by several leaders on the role of BJP in regard to the Special Status for Andhra Pradesh. She explained that the BJP at the Centre was strictly going by the 14th Finance Commission recommendations, which were blocking the SCS for AP.

Instead she said the BJP would take the Centre's aid to the state into the people.
