Turbulence brings Vijayawada air passengers to tears

Sat, May 21, 2016, 12:22 PM
The Hyderabad-Vijayawada Spicejet flight on Friday was a frightening experience for the passengers. As the flight was caught in a thunderstorm, the passengers were tossed about in their seats. One of them had a jump with her head hitting the roof.

As they were being tossed about and jumping in their seats, the passengers had the fright of their lives.

Andhra Pradesh Minister Peetala Sujata said it was a near-death experience for her. Many of the passengers were weeping. Tossing about and dangerous sounds put them in utter confusion. The tossing was severe, and in one such jump she hit the roof. They all heaved a sigh of life when they landed safely in Vijayawada.

Higher Education Chairman Venugopala Reddy was on the flight. He said it would have been better if the flight had been delayed.

The Shamshabad airport authorities could not anticipate the turbulent weather because gale and winds started after the plane had just taken off. They immediately stopped landing and takeoff from the airport for about 2 hours.

The Spicejet could give the pilot's name so he could be congratulated for landing the people safely amid such turbulence.
