Hyderabad, May 20: Hyderabad experienced sudden showers on Friday evening with gales and snowflakes. The rain occurred at Jeedimetla, Qutubullahpur, Chintal, Malkajgiri, Kushaiguda, Neredmet, ECIL, Madhapur, Ramachandrapuram, BHEL, Ameerpet, Amberpet, LB Nagar, Vanasthalipuram, Tarnaka and at several places.

Though Indian Meteorological Department forecast light-to-moderate rains in Telangana State, there were no rains for the last two days. But on Friday, the weather changed suddenly and the rain lashed the city, including Secunderabad, Begumpet, Bowenpally, Addagutta and several other places. However, the Met Office clarified that rain in Hyderabad was not because of ‘Ronu’ but because of cumulonimbus clouds.

People faced hardships with sudden showers in capital city. Several cars were damaged when a huge hoarding fell on them at Jubilee Hills Checkpost due to gales. Trees and hoardings uprooted at several places. City was covered by thick black clouds.

Traffic was stalled at several places on the roads. A water pipe was broken at Banjara Hills and several vehicles swept away in the water. At many places, power was shut down due to thunderbolts and lightning.
