Minister compares high fees in pvt schools as prostitution

Fri, May 20, 2016, 12:20 PM
Karnataka Social Welfare Minister H. Anjaneya has compared private schools charging high fees as prostitution aimed at making money only.

The Minister is known for his acid tongue. This time he took on the private schools. He said: `The private schools are not schools for imparting education. They are centres of prostitution aimed at making money only.' Like prostitutes, they only charged higher fees. At the same time, he admitted that there were some good schools also.

Anjaneya is a true disciple of Chief Minister Siddarmaiah.

The private schools are not amused by the minister's remarks. CBSE Schools Association general secretary Alikhan said it was unbecoming of a minister to speak about private schools in such terms. They should not use such words as prostitute. Th Chief Minister must take strong action against the minister.

Since the minister agreed that there were some good schools also, the educationists must have a second look at the fees structure in private schools. What do they have to say about the financial burden on parents who had to shoulder Rs 2 lakh for a primary school kid or kindergarten kid?
