Thu, May 19, 2016, 10:51 AM
The most talked about political party by the netizens during the assembly elections in five States of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Assam, West Bengal and Puducherry was the Bharatiya Janata Party, regardless of how it fared in the polls. Except for Assam, it is not expected to do much elsewhere.

The most talked about leader was Mamata Banerjee of West Bengal. Didi was active in campaigning and naturally the most popular. Her Tamil Nadu counterpart, Jayalalithaa, stooped to conquer, having been given up by pollsters. She will now show what she is to the pollsters, especially those who conducted the exit polls.

An analysis of poll conversations on Facebook showed the BJP as hogging 61%, while Mamata and Trinamul figured in 21%.

In all, 22 million people discussed the elections in the media involving 142 million interactions among them.

The analysis was for the period from February 12 to May 10.

As for the personalities making an impact, Mamata was followed by Oomen Chandy, Kerala Chief Minister.
