US trying to upset Sino-Indian ties, says Beijing

Beijing on Monday lashed out at Pentagon as playing the Fifth Column, trying to throw spanner into working Sino-Indian relations. The Pentagon said officially that China was amassing troops on its borders with India and also strengthening its bases in India's neighbour Pakistan to the detriment of the Sub-Continent. The report is far from the truth, said Beijing. Chinese Defence Ministry spokesman Yang Yujoon reacted sharply to the Pentagon contention, saying it was throwing spanner in Sino-Indian ties and trying to break the trust between the two Asian countries. Yang countered saying that the US was getting the chill over the potential of the Chinese Army and that Washington was trying to make someone else accountable. China, on its part, claimed that it had every right to rise its national defence.
