Tue, Apr 19, 2016, 04:35 PM
Seven people were reported killed and some 330 people were injured when suicide bombers set off explosions in the office of the National Directorate of Security on Tuesday. Afghan Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack.

Many of the wonded were said to be in a serious condition.

The attack took place in the Puli Mahmood Khan in Central Kabul after suicide bombers sneaked in cars. One suicide bomber was killed and two others were resisting, reports said.

The continuing brazen attack in a densely populated neighbourhood is the first major offensive by the insurgents after a lull. Gun battles were continuing in the compound of the Afghan spy agency.

The Afghan Taliban had announced the spring offensive even as Kabul was trying to hold talks with them. The operation was named Omari, after Mullah Omar, its leader who died last year.
