Begumpet air show turns flop show

The air show at Begumpet airport in Hyderabad has ended as a flop show. Saturday was reserved for the general public, but the airplanes that had come for air display had flown away overnight. There were two small aircraft at the airport for the benefit of the disappointed public. The public that purchased Rs 300 tickets to see the aerobatics, big planes, airhostesses, pilots and air crews was disappointed that most of the planes had flown away. The public expressed their displeasure to the air show organisers who had no answers for the grilling questions of the people. Air shows are of two kinds, civilian air shows and military air shows. It is the military air shows that rivet public interest with their dare devil aerobatics. Military shows give the public confidence about air defence. These are not organised over Begumpet but the Hussainsagar. It's a treat to watch military air shows. Civilian air shows are meant for business deals. We know what Kingfisher business deals are. The Vijay Mallya airline flew away with over Rs 9000 crore public money, branding the banks. Like everyone of the bankers, the people too may have to keep their fingers crossed. In any case, business deals at Begumpet seem to be over.
