Marriages are made in heaven, so why before Kanakadurga idol, asks EO

Executive officer of the famous Kanakadurga temple in Vijayawada, Narasinga Rao, has called for a ban on weddings in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple. His argument is most of the weddings in the sanctum sanctorum are not proper. Hence they could be performed in any part of the temple other than the sanctum. There is paucity of space in the sanctum of Kanakadurga temple for the devotees. Hence the weddings can be performed anywhere in the temple premises other than the sanctum. Narasinga Rao questioned the need for performing the wedddings in the sanctum, saying where is the need for marriages before the idol. Are marriages performed before Venkateshwara at Tirumala? Marriages being performed before the Kanakadurga idol since 1996 have been creating problems for the devotees. That is why the decision to avoid weddings before the Kanakadurga idol has been taken, he added.
