See you back, Pilot said before Nepalese plane crash

Wed, Feb 24, 2016, 12:57 PM
Tara Air Viking 9N-AHH Twin Otter on board with 23 passengers and three crew members that vanished early on Wednesday morning on the Pokhara-Jomsom route crashed en route at Myagdi's Rupse in circumstances that raise doubts.

The weather was stated to be fine and the flight captain, Roshan Manandhar, had made last contact with Pokhara Airport at Godhepani area, from where Jomsom Airport takes the control of the plane.

The Captain said, “See you back, Ghorepani normal.” Immediately air traffic control charge was transferred to Jomsom Airport.

However, the plane did not make any contacts for minutes with the Jomsom Airport. “We thought the plane would have changed the flight path en route due to bad weather or other issues,” an airline spokesman said.

Tara Air added the brand new Viking DHC6-400 Twin Otter aircraft to its fleet in September last year.

The short take-off and landing (STOL) plane boasts cutting edge avionics technology with an integrated full glass cockpit that features an enhanced ground proximity warning system, traffic collision avoidance system and full colour weather radar.

Then how did the crash take place? A police team has been sent to the border of Myagdi and Mustang districts after locals reported fire in the area.
