Man held after bride is told husband has HIV
In an exciting moment when the man is just about to enter the nuptial chamber with his wife, the police have made their dramatic entry and arrested the man. The cruel joke was played out at Nagalladibba in Penugonda mandal in West Godavari district on Thursday. Somaraju of the village was an HIV patient who was suffering from it for long. Hiding the truth, he married a girl of Cheruvu village on February 16. The family elders fixed the nuptials for the couple on February 18. Meanwhile, the Woman and Child Welfare Department officials in the district, who were aware of Somaraju's ailment, went to the police and persuaded them to take the HIV patient into custody. The stunned girl and her parents were then told of Somaraju's ailment. They stated their thanks to the police. In this instance, if the official agencies had got their act together, they would have saved the man, the girl and their relatives unnecessary embarrasment. Now what happens to the girl who is married?
