Mitchell McClenaghan hurt in the eye by Pak bouncer

A New Zealand cricketer Mitchell McClenaghan was seriously hurt when he was hit on Monday by a Pakistani pacer Anwar Ali in the third one-day international at Wellington.

The bouncer hit the batsman Mitchell's helmet and also his left eye. The bones around the left eye are said to have been smashed.

As he was hit, Mitchell lay sprawled on the ground and writhed in pain, while blood flowed from the eye profusely.

Mitchell who came in to bat as a tail-ender for his team retired hurt after hitting two lusty blows for six and scoring 31 runs.

Mitchell was taken to hospital, where the doctors said the bones around the eye were broken by the blow.

Mitchell, who lapsed into unconsciousness, for some time regained consciousness after the treatment.

He managed to tweet that he was fine and posted his picture after the injury, which clearly showed he was seriously hurt. His left eye had swollen and the swelling almost covered his left eye.
