Two cheroots a day to keep bad voice away: Dictator

Fri, Jan 22, 2016, 04:53 PM
Tollywood star Balakrishna has confessed he smokes two cheroots a day. It was in fact a legacy he had picked up from his father, Nandamuri Taraka Ramarao.

NTR would smoke two cheroots a day to keep his voice intact. NTR was known for his thundering delivery of dialogue and diction.

Balakrishna said he had picked up the practice from his father, and it soon became a habit.

In an interview to a TV channel, Balakrishna recounted his childhood memories. His father had never beat him up. Except for films, his older brother, Harikrishna, had also never beaten him.

Even without chastisement, Balakrishna said he had acquired discipline from childhood. That has kept him in good stead.

However, Star that he is Balakrihsna urged his fans not to pick up the smoking habit from him.

Cheroots are simply roasted tobacco leaves rolled into cyclindrical cigars rounded at both ends. These are generally home made in Coastal Andhra, where choice tobaccos are a commercial crop. In fact, it would be no exaggeration to say that as long as the Andhra farmers exported tobacco to Russia, the communist parties flourished in the combined AP, if not the whole country.
