BSF kills one on Pathankot border

The Border Security Force for the first time acted in the Punjab-Pakistan border at Pathankot after the spate of terrorist events and killed a person from a group that was trying to surreptitiously entering the Indian side on Wednesday night. While the person who was shot lay dead on the Pakistani side, the others in the group made good their escape under the cover of darkness. The BSF has been strengthened on the Punjab border following terrorists freely moving across water bodies on the border to launch their depredations. In fact, some of the key BSF personnel have been bribed by Pakistan in the form of drug and arms pushers giving them a free passage into India. Wednesday night's incident was the first action of BSF for a very long time. Those manning the Indian logistics on the borders will do well not to keep a contingent for a long time at one place so they are not compromised by bribes and sexual favours from across the border in the light of recent incidents arising from honey traps and so on. If the BSF and other guards are kept rolling the borders would be safer.
