Freshly printed notes not legal tender, burnt down

The Security Press at Nasik had printed 1000-rupee notes worth Rs.30,000 crore and burnt them down, wasting 50 tons of highly valued paper. Why was the currency notes burnt down? There was a mistake in the printing. As a result, all the notes were burnt down before they reached the banks. Three employees of the Security press have been charged with the wrong printing and suspended. The government will hopefully give public advertisement explaining the unique features of the new 1000-rupee notes from time to time so people are made aware.
