Nineties are no bar for marriage. Mansukhlal (name changed), the nonagenarian of Ahmedabad, has expressed his desire to get married and live a wedded life following the death of his wife 5 years ago and his four children not bothering to make his old age a happy one. Mansukhalal privately expressed his desire to a local marriage bureau, Vinamulya Amulya, headed by Natubhai Patel. He told Natubhai that he had two sons and two daughters, all of whom were after his savings as a bank official. Although he was living in the house of a daughter, he was paying one of his sons Rs.17,000 as rent and Rs.6,000 as food expenses. Even so, Mansukhlal's life was not peaceful and he was facing constant bickerings in his family. Would the marriage bureau, therefore, help him in finding a spouse who could look after his interests and forget about payments to his children at the age of 90+? On his part, Natubhai said there was no bar on the age of anyone willing to get married. They would be finding a spouse for him. The nuclearisation of families is hitting the elderly the hard. Old age homes are of little help when one starts losing ones faculties. Therefore, Mansukhlalbhai's desire to get married at the advanced age of 90+.
