Rail ticket cancellation charges doubled, refund policy revised

Hyderabad, Nov 13: Indian Railways has taken measures to discourage passengers from either cancelling their tickets and or seeking refund for the cancelled tickets. In this direction, the railways gas doubled the ticket cancellation charge and has imposed a restriction that passengers can avail refund option only till four hours before the scheduled departure of a train. These new rules have come into effect from Thursday. By introducing these new rule, the Indian Railways aims to thwart touts from fleecing and harassing the passengers.
