Facebook post triggers clashes at HCU
Hyderabad, Aug 05: A Facebook post triggered clashes between two students groups at Hyderabad Central University yesterday. According to reports, ABVP student leader Sushil posted a comment on pictures posted by Ambedkar Students Association (ASA) on Facebook over Mumbai bomb blast convict Yakub Memon's hanging. The comments irked ASA members and they demanded an apology from Sushil. The situation soon got out of hand and over 30 members allegedly attacked Sushil late on Monday night. Tension prevailed on the university campus yesterday as students belonging to various groups staged protests accusing police of detaining 3 PhD students. Meanwhile, police said that three students were picked up for questioning and they were released by evening. The university constituted a committee to inquire into the incident.
