Ambedkar's London house to become a museum

New Delhi, June 15: The house of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, father of Indian constitution, in North London is all set to turn into a museum soon. The deal to purchase the house by the Indian government was almost in the final stage. The 'under offer' sign outside the 10 King Henry's Road townhouse in Chalk farm area of North London indicates that the sale process was almost complete. The cost of the building, estimated to be around four million pounds (approximately Rs 39,79,06,361.72) was likely to be borne by Maharashtra government. Dr. Ambedkar lived in the building between 1921-22 when he was pursuing law at London School of Economics. After completing some minor repairs, the building will be converted into a museum and library and also making a few rooms will be made available to Dalit students from India who are studying abroad.
