Thanks to our protests, Dow Chemicals, which is the parent organization for the deadly Union Carbide – the villain in Bhopal gas leakage incident - has finally decided to withdraw from sponsoring the upcoming London Olympics. This is people’s victory. Dow Chemicals, which bought the Union Carbide in 2001. The Union Carbide plant in Bhopal was responsible for the release of deadly methyl isocyanate, which killed over 15000 people in a single night. Such an irresponsible firm was allowed to sponsor the Olympic events. This disgrace was opposed tooth and nail. The result is there for all to see. Bowing to public pressure, the Dow Chemicals has now agreed to withdraw its sponsorship. Congratulations and thanks to all those who opposed Dow’s sponsorship.
