Kadhi Pakoras

Ingredients:

1.Curd 1 cup
2.Besan flour 2/3 cup+3/4 cup
3.Ghee 2 tbsp
4.Pinch of asafoetida
5.Fenugreek seeds 1/2 tbsp
6.Cumin seeds 1/2 tbsp
7.Turmeric powder 1 tbsp
8.Red chillies 4
9.Bay leaves 2
10.Red chilli powder 1/2 tbsp+1/4
11.Salt to taste
12.Pinch of lemon juice
13.Ghee 1 tbsp

Preparation:

1.Beat the yogurt. Mix in 2/3 cup of gram flour and turmeric. Mix until
there are no lumps. Add 3 cups of water slowly and mix well.
2.Heat some oil in pan,add in fenugreek seeds,asafoetida and cumin seeds.When they start sizzling add in bay leaves,whole red chillies and red chilli powder.Stir for few seconds.
3.Add curd mixture and mix well until kadhi comes to boil.
4.Add 3 cups water and let it boil and turn the heat to medium low.Stir occasionally and cook between 1 to 1 1/2 hour.
5.When kadhi is cooked add in salt.
6.Mix besan flour with 2/3 cup water and mix well until it attains smooth consistency.
7.Meanwhile heat sufficient oil for deep frying,drop the batter in hot oil like pakodas and deep fry till golden.
8.After the pakoras are fried, soak pakoras in room temperature water for about 10 minutes.
9.Next, squeeze the pakoras gently to takeout the water, without breaking the pakoras.Add the pakoras to the hot kadhi and let it boil on low-medium heat for approximately 10 minutes.
10.Heat the ghee lightly in a small pan.Add chili powder ,Pour over the kadhi when ready to serve.
