AP Governor participates in the 6th Convocation of Sri Venkateswara Vedic University

Vijayawada, October 28: Andhra Pradesh Governor and Chancellor of Sri Venkateswara Vedic University Biswa Bhusan Harichandan participated in the Sixth Convocation of the University, in virtual mode from Raj Bhavan on Thursday. Delivering the Convocation Address, Governor Harichandan said that Sri Venkateswara Vedic University is a unique Institution that encompasses the traditional knowledge of Vedas, Vedangas and related subjects.

The Governor said that since ancient times, our nation has been in the forefront in the fields of mathematics, astrology, commerce, economics, science and technology and the people feel proud of the ancient scientific texts like Kaushika Sutra, Varaha Mihira’s Brihat Samhita, Bharadwaja’s Vimana Sastra, Kautilya’s Arthasastra etc. Many Indian and foreign scientists and engineers took inspiration from these ancient Indian texts for their inventions that benefited humanity across the globe and India is considered as a super power and a Vishwaguru, by virtue of its rich cultural heritage, ancient wisdom and knowledge, said the Governor.

He further added that Sri Venkateswara Vedic Vedic University should function as the custodian and promoter of our ancient cultural heritage and plan on introducing innovative subjects in the field of Science and Technology and the students passing out of the University should play the role of harbingers of global peace and exponents of the glorious Indian tradition. V. Ganesan was conferred the Degree of Honoris Causa of Mahamahopadhyaya by the University. Prof. S. Sudarsana Sarma, Vice-Chancellor presented degrees and medals to the students. R.P. Sisodia, Special Chief Secretary to Governor also attended the Convocation from Raj Bhavan.
