Sripada Yellampally lift irrigation project, that is 148 mts high, is meant to supply irrigation water to crops in Karimnagar and Adilabad district in Telangana. The Telangana government has decided to fill the reservoir to its full capacity this year, as excess water due to incessant rains in the upper regions has already filled the project to 144 mts. But in this case, nearly 500 families will be displaced. So the government has decided to compensate them. Officials said that nearly 55 acres in both the districts will be irrigated this year. Additionally the project would quench the thirst of Hyderabadis.
