Famous eye surgeon Dr. Ravinder Goud clarified that patients who underwent surgery at Sarojini Devi Eye Hospital lost their sight due to infection, caused by capsella bacteria, in the saline bottles. While no eye surgeon, despite all precautions, can assure prefect eyesight after surgery, infection of the eye is a very common problem, he said. Surgeons should check the patient thoroughly for any prior infection before surgery, he suggested. Also, they should be doubly sure of the sterilisation process, he said. Because of advanced medicines, infections can be cured, he revealed.
